Seed saving now more important than ever

The Queensland floods, which are currently still unfolding, have highlighted how important local food is.

Panic buying has left supermarket shelves empty and with roads cut there is uncertainty about when they will be replenished.

On top of that, the full extent of the impact on our farmers is yet to be realised.

Paddocks prepared for crops have washed away - the precious top soil heading straight into the ocean.

Farmers can't get out to harvest or plant because of the sodden boggy ground.

We need to support our farmers when they get back on their feet, but in the meantime it won't hurt to be a bit self-reliant.

And this is where local seed saving groups come into their own.

Join us on Sunday February 6th at Sweethearts Cafe in Eudlo between 8.30-10.30am for a coffee to support a local business affected by the floods, but also to share seeds.

Bring any seeds you may have for processing too.

cheers,
Sonya
